Acupuncture

By placing tiny, hair width needles in the right areas of your body we are able to increase blood flow to areas of pain and dysfunction. Acupuncture can retrain the bodies nervous system to respond to pain signals and to release the pain relieving chemicals you already have. Most people have positive changes after the first couple of treatments. We will frequently discuss how many visits are necessary to achieve the results we decide together to aim for. Usually between 4-12 treatments are required over the course of 1-3 months to reach our goals.

We always like to see how far acupuncture alone can relieve a patient's symptoms, about 95% of the time there is a change for the better after just a few treatments. At times, however, we may recommend adding some herbal supplements. These supplements help the body to heal in a natural, drug free way. Each formula is custom fit for your condition and your body. These herbs have been used for thousands of years and are well proven to be safe and effective. At our clinic we only use herbs that have been third party tested and proven to be clear of any toxins or heavy metals and are assured to only contain the pure herbs that are meant to be there.

These include things like Cupping and Gua Sha where small vessels or stones are used to massage areas of tension. At times E-stim machines are added to the needles to increase effectiveness. Moxibustion is a technique used to heat areas on the skin to decrease inflammation. We may provide some manual therapies or exercises. All of these techniques and others would be discussed prior to use.
